Salvation...Old Testament Style
Exodus 12.1-32
IN THE FULLNESS OF TIME, God did His work in the life of Pharaoh, the Egyptians, God's people, the Israelites, and even in the life of Moses. It has been 430 years in Egypt. Moses is 80 years old after spending 40 years in the house of Pharaoh and 40 years on the backside of the desert. God has brought 9 plagues on Pharaoh and the Egyptians, to demonstrate over and over that the 100s of gods the Egyptians worshipped was not The LORD. Yahweh is the LORD.
With the tenth plague, Pharaoh finally gets it. "Arise, get out...go...worship the Lord". Pharaoh "drives out" the Israelites. God's people are spared from the death of their firstborn by obeying God's instructions to kill a one year old, male, unblemished lamb and spread the blood of the lamb over the door of the house. When the Angel of God passes through Egypt, He will see the blood over the door and "pass over" the house.
It is a picture of Salvation...Old Testament Style. Actually...God Style...because it is a picture of the Lamb of God who will come in the future to take away the sin of the world.
Join us this Sunday afternoon as we meditate on this Old Testament picture of the ultmate sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sin...
followed by communion...
